The UAE Presidential Palace (Qasr Al Watan) has been open to the public since 2019. After buying a ticket and passing through security, a shuttle bus will take you to the gardens where you can see the presidential palace. The presidential palace is enormous as soon as you step off the shuttle bus. It took 150 million hours to build the 380,000-square-meter presidential palace. The doors of the palace are made of solid maple wood, and it took 350 hours to make a single door. The facade of the palace is made of white granite and limestone, symbolizing purity and peace. Inside the palace, you’ll find a central hall. The floor is 100 meters wide and 100 meters long, and the height to the central dome is 60 meters. The dome is 37 meters in diameter, making it one of the largest domes in the world.

The interior of the palace is decorated with more than 5,000 geometric natural and floral patterns, the details of which are a work of art. After passing through the central hall, there are conference rooms for meetings with heads of state, a banquet hall for 300 people, and an exhibition hall displaying diplomatic gifts from heads of state. In addition, the library has a collection of more than 40,000 rare books, and there are several art installations. The Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace is a must-visit for anyone who wants to see the art of capital and technology in action.

The result of a 30-year exchange agreement between the governments of France and Abu Dhabi, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is the brainchild of Jean Nouvel, known as the ‘Master of Light’. His artistic design created 7850 holes in the dome-shaped ceiling of the Louvre Abu Dhabi, allowing the amount and direction of light entering the building to vary hourly depending on the angle at which the sun moves. The ceiling is made of eight overlapping layers, with five meters of space between the bottom four layers and the top four layers for ventilation. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is divided into 12 chapters. Fifty percent of the works are from Louvre Abu Dhabi’s own collection, while the other 50 percent are on loan from the Louvre in France. The 12th chapter features works by local artists from the United Arab Emirates.
