One of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe, Old Town is a beautiful place filled with porcelain-paved streets and unique architecture.
Estonia’s capital city is known for its medieval beauty, and the Old Town, located in the center of the city, has retained its medieval character with a beautiful mix of ancient buildings and cobblestone streets. Ideal for exploring on foot, the Old Town retains its medieval atmosphere and offers a unique experience for visitors to Tallinn.

Biru Gate is the entrance to it’s old town, and after passing through Biru Gate, you’ll come across Veneer Street. Along the street, you will see the Olafu Church (Oleviste Church), a church dedicated to the King of Norway. At 159 meters, this landmark marks the entrance to Tallinn and requires 258 steps up to the spire. On the way up, you’ll see a medieval structure called Paks Margareeta (Margaret’s Turret). It’s one of the most important sites in Tallinn’s past and attracts a lot of attention for its historical value and beauty. It is now a maritime museum. Strolling through it’s Old Town and feeling the medieval beauty and historical atmosphere is a truly special experience. Walking along the stone walls, I felt like I had traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. In the center of the Old Town is Tallinn’s City Hall Square, which is a special place where you can discover Tallinn’s history and culture. The City Hall Square (Tallinna Raekoja Plats) retains the character of a medieval city, with old buildings and unique architecture.
The Old Town is dotted with ancient buildings, churches, and squares, which gave me a first-hand experience of Tallinn’s history and culture. There are also a variety of shops and cafes where I was able to shop and dine, further immersing myself in the city’s charm.

The moment I visited the Kiek in the Kök Museum, I was amazed by its medieval vestiges and historical heritage. Inside the museum, there were medieval city walls along with various exhibits showing the life and culture of that era. I was particularly impressed with the exhibit comparing Tallinn’s past and present.
Being able to walk around the museum and experience the medieval atmosphere firsthand was a truly unique experience.

Upon visiting St. Nicholas Church & Museum, I was immediately struck by the stunning medieval architecture and artwork. St. Nicholas Church is a medieval structure built in the 13th century that has retained much of its original beauty and grandeur. Inside the church are medieval works of art, most notably the famous ‘Hall of the Moon’, which is a must-see. The museum part of the trip gave me a deeper understanding of Tallinn’s history and art.

Today, it still retains its original beauty and is a quiet and peaceful place to stroll and enjoy nature. The park is also home to Kadriorg Art Museum, one of Estonia’s major art museums, for a cultural treat.

The moment I visited the KGB Museum, I was shocked by the historical events that took place there. Inside the museum, Soviet-era prison cells, adoption rooms, and surveillance devices remain intact to recreate the atmosphere of the time, and the vivid exhibits and photographs really bring the experience to life.
