1. Römer in Frankfurt
Once you’ve gotten to Frankfurt Am Main Airport, Römer is a 30-40 minute ride. From the airport, take the S8 or S9 train, get off at Frankfurt(M) Hauptwache, and walk about 5 minutes to reach the square. <Also known as the Römerberg, the square is located in the center of Frankfurt’s Old Town. It features medieval architecture and beautiful views. Unfortunately, the current buildings were destroyed in the war and were rebuilt around 1900, but the old European atmosphere is still very much in evidence. You’ll also find the Frankfurt Civic Center, one of the most iconic buildings in Frankfurt’s Old Town.
2. Frankfurt Cathedral
Frankfurt Cathedral (St. Bartholomäus Cathedral) is one of the city’s oldest and most famous buildings. Built in the 14th century, the cathedral is Gothic in style and houses many works of art inside. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by high ceilings and beautiful stained glass windows. It is also known as the Kaiser’s Dome, as it was here that the coronation of the emperors of the Holy Roman Empire took place.
Visitors to the city can climb the 328 steps to the cathedral tower. From the 66-meter-high observation deck, visitors can enjoy unparalleled views of the surrounding (New) Old Town with the Römer and Paulskirche against the famous skyline, as well as the Frankfurt Museum embankment on the River Main.

5. Goethehaus
The Goethe House is a museum located in Frankfurt, the birthplace of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Germany’s most famous literary figure. It is one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations. The house was the home of Goethe’s parents in the late 18th century, and the museum tells the story of Goethe’s childhood and how he became a writer.
